Special Agent, Assistant Legal Attaché (Cyber), Federal Bureau of Investigation
A 17-year veteran in the Information Technology (IT) field, Kurt has spent more than ten years of his career in the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Cyber Divisions working cases that protected national security. He has also investigated cases involving Counter-Terrorism, Domestic Terrorism, and Child Exploitation matters. His primary focus, however, has been state-sponsored Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) intrusions cases that included cross-jurisdictional cooperation at all levels of government. From 2010-2012, Kurt was assigned to FBI Headquarters as a Supervisory Special Agent in the Cyber Division, he coordinated and led multiple teams that were investigating and mitigating various APT threats. He is currently the Assistant Legal Attaché (Cyber) for the FBI in London. Before joining the FBI he was a Systems Administrator in the United States Senate and worked for a Global 100 retail chain in mergers and acquisitions, process reengineering and IT project management. Kurt has degrees in Finance and English from the University of Idaho.
