David is a highly experienced information security (INFOSEC) specialist with 21 years in government level security and an MSc in Information Security & Crime. Besides developing policy and providing INFOSEC advice, he was also the head of a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT aka CERT) within UK Government and has a global reputation for his knowledge and expertise amongst the Incident Management community. He has worked with many organisations across the world including the EU European Network Information Security Agency (ENISA).

David is currently part of the Bournemouth University Cyber Security Unit (BUCSU) and advises companies on all aspects of INFOSEC including ISO27000, threat analysis, risk management, training, information sharing and incident management. He also assists companies with advice on obtaining government funding that could enable them to identify and benefit from potential business opportunities.

The fun side of Information Security

David will discuss the need for cyber security incident management in this interconnected world, the background to computer emergency response teams (CERTs) and some of his experiences in managing incidents on a global basis. He will also highlight the need for information sharing and his view of the future in this context.
